23rd September 2020: As death is certain to all while the timing of death remains always uncertain, resembling of same pattern, Mrs Ngoimu Jamchenpa, mother-in-law of Mr R.K.Khrimey, National Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India took her last breath on 4th August 2020. After living a meaningful life that ensured proper education and care for the forthcoming generation she passed away at the age of 91, leaving behind 8 children and a galaxy of 30 grandchildren. Amongst 8 children (3 daughters & 5 sons out of which 2 daughters and 3 sons survive) MsTongchen Jompa Merakpa (one of the two surviving daughters) was then given away to tie the knot with Mr Rinchen Khandu Khrimey.
Arunachal Pradesh is the farthest north-eastern state of India with the largest landscape stretching from snowcapped mountains in the north to the scintillating panoramic valleys in the south. Homeland to 25 major vibrant tribes of Indo Mongoloids descendants adding upto more than 100 sub tribes, over 26 towns and 3863 villages inhabited by a population of 13, 82,611 (2011 census).
Monpas, Shertukpens, Membas, Khambas, Meyors, Naah Tagins, Miji(Sajolong), Sartang, Khowa (Bugun) follow the practice of Tibetan Buddhism based on Nalanda Tradtion whereas Khamptis, Singphos, Tikkas, Zakhrings follow Hinayana tradition. Knowing these sub tribes, the rituals of late Mrs Ngoimu Jamchenpa was carried out as per the traditional practices of Mahayana Buddhism at her native place Dirang Zong Village, West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh.
Given the contemporary guidelines of social distancing and precautions in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the family members have requested all the community members to not engage in unnecessary risk by participating in the final rites as their prayers will do its substitution. Despite this, with precautions, huge number of community members have joined to express their respects and solace at the final rites of the departed soul.
Under the given circumstances, the coordinator for ITCO, maintaining all the norms and SOPs of respective states, attended the final rites, expressed condolences and prayers on behalf of Central Tibetan Administration upon the passing away of Mrs Ngoimu Jamchenpa, mother-in-law of Sh.Rinchen Khandu Khrimey. Secretary and coordinator for Bomdila Tibetan Community, Department of Home, CTA. Mr Chisa Tselha along with Ven.Lobsang Thapkey, Tibetan Teacher, Upper Monastery, Bomdila also attend the final rites.
