23rd September 2020; Core Group for Tibetan Cause –India, as conceived by Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, former Kalon Tripa, in 2002 constituted of One National Convener and Six National Co-Conveners. As years passed, it grew in size adding members. By the year 2015, Core Group was functioning with twelve Regional Conveners, four National Co-Conveners and one National Convener. It was the same year during which the 5th All India Tibet Support Groups Conference was convened at Guwahati in the month of November which was attended by more than 250 participants from all over India.
From elaborate discussion to strategic programs and from collective effort to impulsive outreach, late Dr Nand Kishore Trikha, who devotedly shouldered the responsibilities of being the National Convener till 2015, proposed the name of Sh. R. K. Khrimey to discharge the role of National Convener, who was then formally approved through the due process of its guidelines. From day one, Sh. Khrimey widened up the scope of Core Group by inducting more members to the Core Group functionalities, focused upon better coordination amongst the existing TSGs and effective measures to bring out impact upon the cause of Tibet. As such, in 2019, he was unanimously reelected as National Convener at the 6th All India Tibet Support Groups Conference held at Dharamshala. He then, further enlarged the vision of Core Group by assigning more members especially in the North Eastern region of India.
It is with this vision that Sh. Khrimey had introduced Sh. Lobsang Geychen to take the role of Regional Convener (Arunachal Pradesh) for Core Group. Being a resident of Pedong village, Bomdila, Sh. Geychen has taken active participation in support of Tibetan movement throughout these years. He even participated in the 6th AITSG conference at Dharamshala in June 2019.
At a sombre meeting, organized at Munna Camp, Dhirang, Sh. Khrimey, welcomed him in accepting the role of Regional Convener and expressed for active participation during this hour of great need to safeguard the interest of Tibetan people. He further pointed out the need for present outreach mechanism through digital platform and to bring out more positive impact in the existing circumstances. Taking this opportunity, the Coordinator for ITCO briefed him about the functioning of ITCO and role of Core Group. He was also informed of the present and future programs of ITSGs and his expected participation in implementing these targets. The meeting was attended by Mr Chisa Tselha, Secretary & Coordinator, Bomdila Tibetan Community, Department of Home, CTA along with Ven. Lobsang Thapkhey, Tibetan Language Instructor, Upper Gonpa, Bomdila.
Sh. Lobsang Geychen, in his remarks, expressed his gratitude to Sh. R. K. Khrimey for putting faith in him for this assignment and he assured that being a Monpa Buddhist and with the magnanimous blessing of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama he would engage to the best of his potentials in bringing out support for the just cause of Tibetan people.
