
Varanasi: The India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO), New Delhi, successfully concluded its week-long Tibet Awareness Talk Series with a national-level programme held on 16 December 2025 at Sant Kabir Das Sthali, Lahartara— the birthplace of Sant Kabir Das — in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The concluding programme featured a Tibet Talk titled “Global Perspective on Kailash Mansarovar & India–Tibet Relation”, jointly organised by the Tibet Support Group – Shivdham Kailash Mansarovar Tibet Freedom Association (SDKMTFA) and ITCO. An exhibition on India–Tibet Relations, curated by The Tibet Museum (DIIR, Central Tibetan Administration), was also showcased, offering participants a visual and historical perspective on the civilisational ties between India and Tibet.
The Tibet talk was graced by Hon’ble Kalon Dolma Gyari, Cabinet Minister, Department of Security, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), as the Chief Guest. Several eminent personalities were present on the dais, including Dr. R. N. Kharwar; Prof. Vijay Kaul, Director, Centre for Information & Language Engineering, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha; Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh Bablu, President, India Wrestling Association; Smt. Rithika Dubey, State Vice President, Teachers’ Union, Uttar Pradesh; Shri Ambrish Singh Bhola, Member, Varanasi Development Authority; Smt. Pooja Dixit, Director, Arya Mahila P.G. College, Varanasi; Shri Sumit Singh, Adamya, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India; Dr. Dhirendra Kumar Rai, Bhajji Professor, Banaras Hindu University; Prof. Om Prakash Singh, Director, Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya Institute of Hindi Journalism; and Patron of SDKMTFA, Shri Mahant Govind Das Shastri.
Addressing the gathering, Kalon Dolma Gyari highlighted the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and spiritual relationship between India and Tibet. She elaborated on the global religious and ecological significance of Ghang Rinpoche (Kailash Mansarovar), underscoring its importance not only for faith traditions but also for environmental stability across Asia. The Cabinet Minister also provided a comprehensive overview of the background and functionality of the Central Tibetan Administration. She also expressed true non-violence and dialogue as viable resolution to the Tibet Issue. “Political issues in the present era must be addressed through sustained and meaningful engagement” stated Kalon Dolma Gyari.
A major highlight of the programme was extensive media engagement, with the Chief Guest interacting with 14 national and regional media outlets, ensuring wide dissemination of the message on Tibet and India–Tibet relations. The event also marked the inauguration of a signature campaign advocating for the liberation of Kailash Mansarovar and Tibet.
The Tibet Awareness Talk witnessed participation from over 200 attendees, including students, teachers, journalists, advocates, business owners, retired railway employees, representatives of the Municipal Corporation, and social workers, reflecting a broad-based and diverse audience.
Following the Tibet Talk, and in alignment with the Year of Compassion, the dignitaries participated in a blanket distribution, highlighting the humanitarian and compassionate dimension of the programme.
Shri Manvendra Singh, Founder of the Shivdham Kailash Mansarovar Free Tibet Association, along with his team — Shri Mahant Govind Das Shastri, Shri Shubham Kashi, Shri Deepak Singh, Shri Rajkumar Singh, Shri Naman Pratap, Shri Sandeep Kharwal, Shri Sadhana Chowdhary, Shri Vijay Kaul, and Shri Rishap Bherewa — extended support to the ITCO team throughout the planning and execution of the programme.
ITCO team led by Tashi Dekyi, Coordinator, along with staff Migmar Tsamchoe and Ngawang Choden successfully concluded the Tibet Awareness Talk Series within the State of Uttar Pradesh. The Tibet Museum staff Tenzin Khetsun and Dechen Dolkar curated the exhibition, which received significant appreciation for enhancing public understanding of India–Tibet relations through visual documentation.
