
North America: The North America Dhomay Association organised a special dinner on Friday at the Phuntsok Deshe Hall in New York City to celebrate the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The attendees at the event included Tibetan Parliamentarians, Venerable Chokhor Rinpoche from Sera Jey Monastery, the Director of the Sera Jey Buddhist Culture Centre, former CTA staff members, former community members, and representatives from major organisations were invited as guests. Kunga Tashi, the Tibetan Liaison Officer from the Office of Tibet in North America (Washington), was also invited and delivered a speech.
The event began with traditional mandala offerings and prayers. Arig Gyurmey, President of the North American Regional Committee, delivered a welcome speech in which he outlined the event’s organisation process, the committee’s working methods and considerations, and emphasised the importance of expressing gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Tibetan Parliamentarian Sonam Norbu Ratsa and Kunga Tashi, the Tibetan Liaison Officer, also gave brief remarks in anticipation of the upcoming 90th birthday celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
Following the speeches, there were traditional cultural performances, including songs that praised the noble deeds of His Holiness. The attendees expressed deep joy, faith, and gratitude throughout the celebration, honouring the occasion and reflecting on His Holiness’s enduring kindness.
