
Dharamshala: The Department of Health, CTA is organising a two-day workshop on Adolescent Health for a group of school principals, rectors and staff at Tibetan Administrative Training Center in Dharamshala.
The first day of the 2 days workshop, from 17-18 July, was attended by Chief guest Health Kalon, Choekyong Wangchuk, Tsegyal Chukya Dranyi, Health Secretary, Yeshi Wangmo, Health Additional Secretary and Jampa Phuntsok, joint secretary of the Department of Health. Other participants of the workshop included Rectors, Principal and other dealing staff from 22 different schools, summing up to a total of around 26 participants.
In his inaugural speech, Health Kalon mentioned the issue of disease prevalent in Tibetan adolescent. “The most common disease in our adolescent is Hepatitis B and it is an infectious disease similar to HIV. Even though there are few Tibetans having HIV. We must work towards prevention from the initial stage.”
He mentioned that of 7 billion population 1.2 are adolescent that World Health Organisation deals with childbirth and HIV in the world.
Health Secretary Tsegyal Chukya gave an introductory speech at the inaugural function.
The 2 days workshop entails interactions and brainstorming within Principals, Rectors and other staff.
