Dharamsala: For this year’s nutritional week observed every year from 1 – 7 September in India, the Health Education Desk of the Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration, conducted “Healthy Veg-Recipe Contest to promote healthy recipes and healthier diets in the Tibetan community, and to enable positive change in the lifestyle.
It is a promotion of culinary skills announced by the department through its social media handles.
The desk had received eight entries for the contest. The entries were “1 Nasi Goreng, 2 Gobi Manchurian, 3 Kyu, 4 Carrot with green beans, 5 Fiddlehead ferns, 6 Dropopri, 7 Mattar Paneer, and 8 Quinoa Rice.”
The recipes of the entries were posted on media and the public was asked to comment on the posts to encourage an inclusive and participative approach to the campaign. The posts garnered a good number of responses.
The dishes were judged and winners were declared by a certified nutritionist with a background of Msc in Food and Nutrition in Public Health.
The winning three dishes are
1 KYU prepared by Tenzin Menkyi,
2 NASI GORENG prepared by Kelsang Gyatso
3 DROPORI prepared by Tsering Norphel
The first prize winner will receive 5000 INR, the second will receive 4500 INR and the third will receive 4000 INR. In addition, five consolation prizes will be distributed.
