
Tezu, Namsai: On Sunday, 21 September 2025, Ven. Geshe Lhakdor, Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, visited the Dhargyeling Tibetan Settlement in Tezu to share deep insights on the Four Noble Commitments of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. He was warmly received at 11:15 a.m. by the Tibetan Settlement Officer, the Chairman of the Local Tibetan Assembly (LTA), the President of BRDL, and other local dignitaries. As part of his visit, Geshe la also paid a respectful courtesy call to Dzogchen Ganor Rinpoche.
The main event began at 1:30 p.m. at the Phodrang, with a vibrant cultural dance performance by the students of STS Tezu, showcasing the rich Tibetan heritage. Kunga Jigmey, the Settlement Officer, delivered the welcome and introductory address.
In his keynote address, Geshe Lhakdor spoke about nurturing the younger generation to become compassionate, morally upright, and responsible individuals. He then elaborated on the Four Noble Commitments of His Holiness: Promotion of Human Values – emphasising kindness, compassion, and ethical conduct as essential human principles; Promotion of Religious Harmony – fostering mutual respect and understanding among all religions; Preservation of Tibetan Culture and Environment – safeguarding Tibet’s spiritual and cultural legacy along with environmental responsibility; and Revival of Ancient Indian Knowledge – encouraging a return to ancient wisdom, including Buddhist philosophy and science of the mind.
On Monday, 22 September 2025, Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), Namsai, hosted a university talk in its Seminar Hall on the same theme. It was jointly organised by the Ghoton Organising Committee of Tibetan Settlement Miao and Tezu, the Faculty of Education, Special Education, and Sports of AUS.
The program commenced with an introductory message on “The Year of Compassion” by the Settlement Officer, Tezu, who underlined the relevance of compassion in today’s fragmented world. This was followed by a warm welcome address from Prof. D.S. Hernwal, Hon’ble Rector of AUS, who emphasised on the enduring relevance of Buddhist philosophy in promoting global peace and ethical living.
Geshe Lhakdor discussed and reiterated the Four Noble Commitments of His Holiness, highlighting its global and timeless significance.
Prof. Enu Sambyal, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Sports, also addressed the gathering where he reflected on the influence of Buddhist values in shaping education and social well-being.
An engaging question-and-answer session allowed students and faculty to interact with Geshe Lhakdor, gaining profound insights into the teachings of His Holiness. An exhibition showcasing the thoughts and wisdom of the 14th Dalai Lama added depth to the event, offering a visual and intellectual journey into his philosophy.
The Ghoton Committee presented Gheshe Lhakdor with a traditional memento of Thangka. The heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Nyima Choegyal, a member of the Ghoton organising committee followed by a group photograph and refreshments.
The two-day engagement by Ven. Geshe Lhakdor at Tezu and Namsai served as a deeply enriching experience for all participants. Through his teachings, the timeless wisdom of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was brought to life, inspiring individuals to lead lives rooted in compassion, cultural pride, and a shared sense of global responsibility.
