Paris: A delegation of French Senate Tibet Information Group, led by President Senator Raison Michel, Vice-President Senator Morhet-Richaud, Senator Eustache-Brinio Jacquelin paid a courtesy visit to Bureau du Tibet, Paris.
The programme started with luncheon reception at Taste of Tibet, a Tibetan restaurant.
On being inquired by the Senators, Representative Tashi Phuntsok appriased them that His Holiness had a chest infection which is being treated in Delhi. He thanked them for their concerns.
The Representative also inquired them about the delegation to the 7 WPCT at Riga in Latvia. They asked for some more information and agreed to inform soon on their participation.
The meeting also discussed how and when the Senate Group will host the Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In France, the groups in the Senate and the National Assembly host the birthday in turns.
Representative Tashi Phuntsok also informed the delegation of the success of hoisting of the Tibetan flag on 10 March. He was pleased that more than 35 mayors from France, Belgium, and Luxembourg had responded to the Office. As reported earlier a special effort was made by the Office this year. It sent over 1000 flags to various mayors and offices in Europe.
The Representative also brought to their attention the effort being made by the Office in forming the Tibet Group in the next European Parliament. He sought their advice and assistance in this regard.
After lunch, the delegation visited the Bureau du Tibet, Paris. Representative Phuntsok first took them for a short tour of the various sections of the Office. Later, over a cup of tea, he briefed them in detail about the Office, from its first days in 1993.
The visiting delegation was most pleased with the visit. It informed that 2 new Senators had joined the Senate Tibet Information Group, increasing the membership to 25 Senators.
