DHARAMSHALA: Education Council of the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration held a final three-day review meeting on Tibetan language textbooks for North American weekend classes.

The review meeting was held from 2 – 4 August 2017 at Nyatri hall, Gangchen Kyishong. Tibetan language textbooks for Classes till second grade were published last year by the department.

The review meeting discussed ideas to make the text books more interesting to students and the content more indepth. The meeting took into account the suggestions and recommendations received from Tibetan language teachers in North America and Dharamshala.

The review meeting was attended by Mr Tsering Samdup, Director of Education Council, Joint Secretary Sonam Sangpo, Terminology section head Ogen Tenzin, Dr Chok Tenzin Monlam from LTWA, Samdup from Petoen school, Palden Dorjee, Karshung Tashi Dorjee and Gedun Dhonyoe. The review meeting was also attended by Nangsel Tenzin Norbu from the US who is currently on vacation in India.

The textbook review committee also discussed the texts and syllabus of Tibetan language textbooks for classes III, IV and V.
