Mundgod: Tibetan Settlement Officer Lhakpa Dolma from Mundgod attended the Result Declaration Ceremony of the Drepung Gomang School’s 26th Summer School for lay students on 15 June 2023. 

The occasion was also attended by the abbot of the monastery (Khen Rinpoche), who is accompanied by the chant leader (umdze), chief discipliner (gekkö) and senior treasurer (chakzod) of the monastery. The school’s Principal, instructors, Tibetan residents, students and parents also attended the event. 

A month-long Summer School for lay students was annually organised by Drepung Gomang School in collaboration with Dre-Gomang Buddhist Cultural Association since 1997. The programme was initiated under the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to enhance young Tibetan students’ understanding of Tibetan knowledge. During the course of Summer School, the participating students were taught about Tibetan Buddhism, dialectic practice, Tibetan linguistics, reading and handwriting.
