Dharamshala: The Department of Education’s mentor on secular ethics commenced his awareness campaign on secular ethics, organised by the Education Council, for Tibetan schools in Northern India on 18 July 2022.
The mentor, Ven Yeshi Gyaltsen, began his awareness talk at TCV Day School on the initial day of the campaign, where he apprised the backdrop and significance of secular ethics to the students and teachers while stressing its application in the day-to-day life of attendees at the gathering. He further informed the crowd about four commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and answered the questions from the audience, followed by a tour to school’s classrooms.
In 2017, Ven Yeshi Gyaltsen kicked off his awareness campaign for Tibetan students in Indian colleges and universities. In the subsequent year, he was appointed as DoE’s mentor on secular ethics. Afterwards, Geshe Yeshi Gyaltsen undertook 57 awareness campaigns at various Tibetan schools and settlements in India and Nepal. As was suggested by the participants during his campaign, Ven Yeshi Gyaltsen extended the duration of his campaign and spent three months spreading awareness for the students in Southern India in 2019. Following a few years of intervals due to the Covid pandemic, he now began his awareness campaign for Tibetan students in Northern India.
