Dharamshala: The Department of Education (DoE) successfully conducted google meets with the outgoing batch of class XII Tibetan students to inform them the ‘why, what, how, and when’ of the DoE Scholarship Program and to clarify any doubts of the students. The virtual meetings was held every day from June 10 to June 17, 2021.
The awareness program sought to cover all the necessary information of both domestic and international scholarships administered by the Scholarship Section of the DoE, CTA.
Invitations for the meetings was sent to more than 700 Class XII students along with their resident school counsellors.
The virtual meets was attended by students from 14 different Tibetan schools namely, CST Darjeeling, CST Kalimpong, CST Mussoorie, CST Shimla, CST Herbertpur, STS Bylakuppe, STS Dholanji, STS Mundgod, STS Poanta, TCV Bylakuppe, TCV Dharamsala, TCV Gapalpur, TCV Suja and TCV Selakui.
Furthermore, the students were also presented with a tutorial detailing the process for filling the DoE 2021 Scholarship application online.
The students were also informed of the ‘Peer Mentoring Program’ launched last year by the DoE. The mentoring program seeks to connect the more than 3000 current students in India and more than 40 abroad with potential mentors (former or current college students, graduates and scholarship recipients). The goal is for the mentees to receive counsels from the mentors and have an overall easier transition to their higher education.
The awareness program received good feedback from the participating students and resident school counsellors. Future such online virtual awareness programs were also requested and recommended by the participants.
