Uttarakhand: The Tibetan Community in Uttarakhand, led by the Tibetan Settlement Office Dehradun & Tibetan Settlement Office, Herbertpur, distributed 113 dry ration kits to local destitute families on 7 July 2024.
These communities live in their temporary, makeshift houses under a bridge in Manduwala, where they have hardly any access to basic hygiene and sanitation. Most of them are daily wagers, domestic workers and unorganised labourers. The distribution was done with the help of Tibetans living in Herbertpur, Lakhanwala, Khera, and Baluwala, settled nearby. The Ration Kit includes 5 Kg of Flour, 5 Kg of Rice, 1 Kg of lentil, 1 kg of Sugar, 1kg of salt and 250 grams of tea leaves.
This initiative is carried out to celebrate His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday, per the Tibetan Lunar Calendar. Tibetans in Uttarakhand express their sincere gratitude to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and wish him a speedy recovery. At the same time, it is also to express their heartfelt appreciation to the State Government and the people of Uttarakhand for assisting and hosting Tibetans for all these years.
