Canberra, 14 November 2025: As part of the Ghoton “Year of Compassion,” the documentary film Wisdom of Happiness was screened at the Hedley Bull Building at the Australian National University (ANU). The event was co-hosted by the Australia Tibet Council (ATC) and ANU School of Culture, History and Language.
The screening was attended by Representative Karma Singey; Elly Kent, Deputy Director of Languages and Gouri Banerji, Senior Communications and Outreach Officer from ANU་School of Culture, History and Language; ATC Board member Sonam Choedon; as well as Tibet supporters and members of the local Tibetan community.
In his opening remarks, Representative Karma Singey said, “This year, Tibetans and well-wishers of His Holiness the Dalai Lama around the globe are celebrating the Year of Compassion in honour of His Holiness’s 90th birthday. Tonight is more than a film screening; it is a celebration—honouring both His Holiness’s milestone and the Year of Compassion. It is also an opportunity for each of us to reflect on how we can bring more empathy, kindness, and understanding into our own lives and communities.”
He further added that in today’s challenging world, His Holiness’s message of peace, compassion, and nonviolence is more relevant than ever. He encouraged attendees to embrace the wisdom shared in the film and carry its lessons forward—to cultivate a happier, more compassionate self and, in turn, help create a more compassionate community.
