Assam: The Joint Secretary of the CTA’s Department of Information and International Relations, Ngawang Thokmay, was invited as a special guest to speak at the biannual meeting of Bharat Tibbat Samanwai Sangh (BTSS) held in Tezpur Assam on 9 December 2023.
He emphasised in his address the relevance and significance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message of peace and harmony in today’s world of war and conflict. He highlighted the current critical situation in Tibet, where Tibet’s unique cultural heritage is on the brink of extinction under Chinese President Xi Jinping’s policy of sinicization. Moreover, he reiterated the relevance of the Middle Way Policy as a nonviolent means of resolution to the longstanding Sino-Tibet conflict.
Furthermore, he called upon the gathering of Indian dignitaries and civil society to raise the Tibet issue with their respective MLAs and MPs so that the Indian government could put pressure on the Chinese government to engage in dialogue with the representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
