
NEW DELHI: Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile visited Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi on 18 April as chief guest at the University’s International Students Meet 2018. The meet was also attended by Prof Anubha Kaushik (Director, International Affairs) and Tenzin Passang, Education coordinator at Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama based in New Delhi.
Deputy Speaker spoke about the importance of having a goal in life and said that education should not be limited solely to securing a livelihood. He said students should pursue education with a motivation to bring benefit and advance one’s nation, community and the world at large.
The function also saw the presentation of cultural performances by students from various countries including Tibetans.
Following the international students meet, Deputy Speaker met exclusively with the Tibetan students and interacted with them. He listened to their grievances and the challenges they face as students, and duly informed the university authorities of the same.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is based in Dwarka, Delhi. The university has about 105 colleges under its affiliation. Currently, there are 24 Tibetan students enrolled in the University.
