Dharamshala: On 3 June 2026, the Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration organised the opening ceremony of the 5th Summer Cultural Immersion Programme at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies (CHTS), Sarah.
At the event, Dhondul Dorjee, Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture, and Passang Tsering, Principal of CHTS, addressed the participating students on the objectives of the programme, underscoring the importance of Tibetan culture.
This year’s programme brings together 21 students from seven different locations. Its primary aim is to help Tibetan students studying in private schools in India and Nepal gain a broader understanding of Tibetan culture, particularly Tibetan identity, the Tibetan cause, and Tibetan society, while strengthening their connection with the Tibetan community.
During the 14-day programme, students will attend lectures on Tibetan language and literature, an introduction to Buddhist philosophy, SEE Learning, the Central Tibetan Administration, and the Tibetan cause. The programme also includes educational visits to monasteries and cultural centres.
