Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) holds Europe Regional V-TAG Strategic Meeting and Advocacy Training.
Frankfurt: The three-day Europe Regional V-TAG Strategic Meeting and Advocacy training organised by the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), commenced at Retreathaus, Berghof of Tibet House, Germany on 3 November 2023.
Additional Secretary Tenzin Lekshay (International Relations) of DIIR, gave a brief introduction of the programme, which was then followed by a welcome address by Elke Hessen, the Director of Tibet House Germany.
During the inaugural session, two Europe-based Tibetan members of Parliament (Chithues) Ven. Thubten Wangchen and Thupten Gyatso provided insight into the situation of Tibet and Tibetans residing in Europe. Representative Sonam Tsering Frasi of Office of Tibet, London and and Representative Rigzin Choedon Genkhang of Office of Tibet Brussels, delivered their address on Europe – China Relations and Tibet Advocacy.
In the evening, Mandie McKeown, the Executive Director of the International Tibet Network, and Gloria Montgomery, the Coordinator of the Tibet Advocacy Coalition, conducted Advocacy Training. The training was mainly focussed on tactics and strategies to be implemented in order to have an impactful advocacy. It was an interactive session where the participants were divided into groups with different topics. Trainers gave feedback after each group presentation.
