
Dharamshala: In September, the Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration, conducted an HPV vaccination drive for Class VII girl students across Tibetan schools in the North Zone. This initiative aims to ensure early protection of adolescent girls from cervical cancer and the associated risks of HPV (Human Papillomavirus) infection.
The vaccination drive was carried out in the following schools: Sambhota Tibetan Schools in Herbertpur, Dholanji, and Shimla; Petoen School in Dharamshala; Tibetan Children’s Village Schools in Dharamshala, Gopalpur, Selakui, Chauntra, and Suja; Tibetan Homes Foundation Schools in Mussoorie, Rajpur, Gohri Mafi, and Dekyiling; Ngoenga Special School in Dehradun.
Under the Tibetan, Economic, Social and Cultural resilience (TESC) program funded by the US state department through the Tibet fund 142 eligible students were successfully vaccinated against HPV.
