Dharamsala, July 26, 2017 – CTA’s Department of Finance (DoF) began an Organizational Development Assessment (ODA) organized by SARD and funded by SOIR-IM. The first phase of the ODA started on July 21st evening and concluded on the 26th. Two days of the session was held at an off-site location and the rest took place at Nyatri Hall, CTA.
The primary objective of this pilot initiative is to enable the Department of Finance and its staff to review and if necessary revise its vision and mission so that it informs both the further formulation and the advancement of the 15thKashag’s five-fifty vision. A team of five external experts led the ODA exercise with expertise on Appreciative Inquiry (AI), systems thinking, organizational development and strategic planning. The entire leadership and staff of the department met collectively as well in groups that represented the various sections under the department. The participants went through an intensive AI session and also worked on the core task of drafting a vision, mission, values, goals and strategies to achieve the goals for the Department of Finance.
The department will next work on drafting a strategic plan based on the work undertaken and data collected and analyzed from the first phase. This plan will guide the department’s work for the next five years and beyond and will be in alignment with the CTA’s overall five-fifty vision.
“The ODA process that the Department of Finance is going through is an important initiative. It will not only help the department, but can also serve as a good model as it is the Kashag’s hope that all the other CTA departments will also carry out similar ODA activities to help come up with their respective strategic plans and work towards realizing the five-fifty vision”, said Paljor Kalon Karma Yeshi.
