DOE English Curriculum and Learning Standards Framework Development Committee with committee advisor, Education Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen.
Dharamshala: The Department of Education (DOE), CTA will soon start live online teaching of English through TTV.
This online program is being facilitated by the DOE English Curriculum and Learning Standards Framework Development Committee. The committee’s advisor, Education Kalon, Dr. Pema Yangchen, and two committee members, Mr. Tenzin Dhargyal (former Teacher Professional Development Officer, TCV) and Ms. Tenzin Choedon (STS English Mentor) held a preliminary meeting on Tuesday, 9 June to discuss the online program.
On Wednesday, the committee held an online meeting along with the committee’s chair Mr. Tenzing Chimey Nuba, who is based in LA.
Keeping in mind various initiatives of the individual subject teachers towards delivering online lessons to support continuity of children’s learning at home, the committee decided to focus the live online teaching of English on language skills rather than grade level English syllabus.
In planning and designing this online program, the committee will as much as possible connect it to English Curriculum and Learning Standards Framework drafted on December 23, 2019 and draw closely from our collective field experience gained during our interactions with students and teachers.
The committee decided to present two levels of online English lessons: a lower level for students reading in class V and VI and a higher level for students in class VII and VIII.
Under the guidance of the advisor and chairperson, the live online English lessons will be delivered by Mr. Tenzin Dhargyal and Ms. Tenzin Choedon twice a week beginning towards the end of this month.
The committee is scheduled to meet again on Monday, June 15 to plan the lessons. The final schedule will be posted soon.
The live broadcast is being facilitated by TTV, DIIR.
