New Delhi: India should rethink its policy towards China. It should follow Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s position that was presented to Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1950. If that position changes in reality, India will lead China in many ways, an optimism expressed by former Home Minister of Central Tibetan Administration Gyari Dolma.
She was speaking at the symposium on “Tibetan Freedom and Indian Security” jointly organized by India Tibet Coordination Office, New Delhi and MIT – WPU School of Government at MIT World Peace University, Pune on March 23, 2019.
Dr. Shripal Sabnis, President of 89th National Marathi Literary Convention, Retired Brig. Hemant Mahajan and Dr. S. Parshuraman, Vice Chancellor of MIT World Peace University, Joint Conveners of National Tibet Support Groups – Arvind Nikose, Balasaheb Raste, Lokesh Chaitanya Maharaj, Vitthal Kadam, Anand Jadhav and Padmakar Holambe were other dignitaries present at the occasion.
Gyari Dolma said “India has maintained peaceful relations with China and even supported China’s membership to the United Nations. However, China consistently failed to reciprocate similar attitude towards India. This is why India needs to rethink its policy towards China. When entire world reacted to Pulwama attack recently, the United Nations took four days to release any official statement. China was a key player in this delay and India should pay attention to China’s dubious tactics.”
She further echoed that Tibetans strongly believes they are part of India. We will never forget the safety provided by India to our leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama who is the ambassador of peace in the world.
Dr. Sabnis while delivering his speech said “Tibetan culture is great in itself while living in great hardships on world highest plateau. Since 1950, the followers of Buddhism are fighting peacefully for their freedom against the Chinese occupation. China has suppressed such peaceful protest with more aggression time and again. The struggle for Tibet’s freedom is still continuing. Today the world needs ideals of Siddharth Buddha, Mahavir and Gandhi more than anything else to live together peacefully.
Retired Brig. Mahajan told the audience that the world’s greatest solar and wind power, 25% of world’s fresh water, and more minerals are hidden in Tibet than China. When Tibet is still fighting for its existence, China is aggressively dumping its nuclear waste in Tibet. Tibet will lose everything in air attacks or nuclear war if there is one in the future since majority of Chinese nuclear missiles are stored and stationed in Tibet.
The symposium witnessed good participation. They attentively listened to the speakers and raised their doubts.
Abhishek Mahajan moderated the symposium session and Balasaheb Raste gave the vote of thanks.
