
Shimla: The Chief Representative Officer of Shimla met with Shri Rajesh Sharma (IAS), Secretary to the Governor of Himachal Pradesh today and the two discussed potential ways forward in securing long pending land leases on a token amount and applying for land leases for the undocumented Tibetan settlements in Himachal Pradesh.
CRO Tsewang Phuntsok and office secretary Tenzin Nyima met Shri. Rajesh Sharma at the behest of His Excellency Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. The scheduled meeting was to discuss the plight of Tibetan living in Himachal Pradesh regarding the land lease issues so the Governor could direct the HP Government to resolve them at the earliest. The CRO presented a consolidated report and briefed the Secretary about the land lease issues of Tibetan Settlements in Shimla, Kullu Manali, Mandi, 218 families residing in Tipa Road Dharamsala, along with Tibetan settlements on undocumented land. The CRO expressed his earnest requests for consideration of renewal of the land lease on the token amount and grant land leases for all the undocumented Tibetan settlements in Himachal Pradesh. He reiterated the need for a speedy resolution of the land lease issue to sustain the Tibetan Freedom Movement and exiled Tibetan community.
A meeting was set up this evening with the Additional Secretary to the Revenue Department at the request of the Secretary to discuss the issue thoroughly for effective advocacy.
