30 Sept. 2020, New Delhi: There are few individuals who are so good at their work that they contribute and dedicate their whole life to the welfare of the society. One such individual was late Dr. (Smt.) Kapila Vatsyayan, India’s preeminent scholar and a lifelong friend of the Tibetan people. In remembrance of late Dr. (Smt.) Kapila Vatsyayan for her immense contribution to the society and for the Tibetan people, the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India organized a Shradhanjali Webinar on Wednesday, 30 September 2020. The auspicious webinar was graced by the presence of Kalon Trisur His Eminence Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, Former Kalon Tripa (Prime Minister), Tibetan Government in Exile; Prof. Geshe Ngawang Samten, Vice-Chancellor, Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), Sarnath, Varanasi; Shri Rinchen Khando Khrimey, National Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India; Prof. Anand Kumar, National General Secretary, India Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) and Mr. Karma Choeying, Secretary for International Relations, Department of Information & International Relations (DIIR) cum official Spokesperson of the Central Tibetan Administration.
At the outset, Mr. Jigmey Tsultrim, Coordinator, India Tibet Coordination Office – Delhi presented the introductory remarks, and thereafter the monks from Gyumed Monastery, Budh Vihar, Delhi offered prayers for late Dr. (Smt.) Kapila Vatsyayan.
Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche foremost offered his thanks to the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India led by Shri R. K. Khrimey and India Tibet Coordination Office, Delhi for organizing the Shradhanjali Webinar in this difficult time. Rinpoche who had known late Dr. (Smt.) Kapila Vatsyayan for many decades said that it is an auspicious occasion of Shradhanjali offering to Dr. Kapila ji who had long associated with the Tibetan people in the preservation of Tibetan culture and identity in India.
Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche in his address shared “Dr. Kapila ji, for four or five decades contributed for the welfare of the society especially regarding the ancient Indian knowledge and culture preserving and reestablishing many of these. It is not easy to describe all these contributions and achievements. I witnessed that Dr. Kapila ji even though having modern education, was still able to safeguard herself from getting swayed by modernization and stay rooted in her ancient Indian culture.”
Rinpoche further shared “If we look at Indian history for some decades, there were some great individuals and Dr. Kapila ji was one of them. She had a long and rich career as a preeminent scholar, former Member of Parliament, Special Advisor and Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and many other positions. I am related to her through the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, Varanasi, one of the esteemed centre of learning from its founding day to the present day. Dr. Kapila ji’s vision and blessing had played a pivotal role in the development and growth of the University. ”
Rinpoche in conclusion mentioned “It is rare to find individuals who have artistic as well as administrative qualities as Dr. Kapila ji had. I consider myself lucky to always had her blessings as I shared Guru-Shishya relationship with her. I pray for her departed soul and swift rebirth and may she continue to serve humanity for eons.”
Prof. Geshe Ngawang Samten and Prof. Anand Kumar also offered their Shradhanjali to the late Dr. (Smt.) Kapila Vatsyayan highlighting her contribution to the society and the pivotal role she played in establishing and development of the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath, Varanasi.
Mr. Karma Choeying on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) offered his Shradhanjali to the late Dr. (Smt.) Kapila Vatsyayan ji. He said that the Tibetan administration and Tibetan people are always grateful to Dr. Kapila ji for her contribution and support towards the Tibetan cause.
Shri R. K. Khrimey in his concluding remarks expressed his gratitude to Rinpoche for taking the time with his wisdom and his remarks to enlighten the TSGs members.
Shri Khrimey also outlined the achievements and progress being undertaken by the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India during recent years and months. He further offered his humble request to Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche that as and when the situation arises, the Core Group shall seek his blessings for further implementation of programs in the path of Tibbat Mukti Sadhna.
The Shradhanjali Webinar was also attended by the members of Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India and Tibetan Support Groups who offered their Shradhanjali and shared their views.
Mr. Tenzin Jorden, Deputy Coordinator, ITCO – Delhi presented the vote of thanks.
