Arunachal Pradesh: Choephelling Tibetan Settlement had planted 197 tree saplings consisting of sandalwood, Bael trees, Jack fruit trees, Coconut trees, Pomegranate trees, Goose Berry and Amla trees this morning. A total of 5 Volunteers from the respective camps were involved in the Mass Tree plantation program organized by the Settlement Office. All the tree saplings except the sandalwoods were planted in agriculture Demonstration farm to better protect them for years and to be looked after by the agriculture extension officer. The site was prepared by the camp leaders one day earlier to plant trees headed by the agriculture extension officer who also procured the trees from the marker and nurseries nearby by the settlement almost a week ago.
Plantation of the trees were done before the simple function in office and other departments like the cooperative section, Tibetan Primary Health Centre, Mentseekhang, and Sambhota Day School in reciting at least 1000 mani by each individual. The settlement accumulated 42,033,530.00 within almost half an hour meeting in the respective local administration and other sections under our office. The meetings were held separately within all these sections to avoid large crowds due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Later in the afternoon, the settlement office distributed Rs. 216000.00 sigsol stipend received from Gaden Phodrang towards the 36 elders who are 85 years and above.
In Kollegal settlement the Tibetan residents led by the settlement office participated in the mass plantation.
