Beijing, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) China demanded the US Congress reject a bill on the Tibet Autonomous Region, an issue that according to Beijing currently mars the development of bilateral ties.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said his government categorically rejects the so-called ‘Tibetan Policy and Support Act of 2019’ presented by several US lawmakers in the House of Representatives.

According to the spokesman, this is another act of interference in China’s internal affairs.

Geng demanded that US politicians cease the use of issues related to Tibet to interfere in affairs that only concern China.

‘The act severely violates the basic norms governing international relations, grossly interferes in China’s internal affairs and sends a seriously wrong signal to the separatist forces of ‘Tibetan Independence,” Geng said.

By reiterating that China strongly opposes any foreign interference, the spokesman called on the United States to fully recognize the high sensitivity of issues related to Tibet and abandon its aggressive policy in this regard.

China states that Tibet has been part of its territory for centuries and rejects the actions of secessionist groups that, supported from abroad, try to separate the region from the Asian nation.
