Dharamshala: A six-day workshop on Children’s literature writing and translation organised by the Department of Education, CTA is currently underway at Sarah College for Higher Tibetan studies. The workshop concludes on 29 August.
As part of its key initiative under the USAID direct funding program, DOE has commenced an ambitious project to produce 40 publication of children’s literature for students in classes VI to XII. 5 translators and 1 illustrator were recruited under this project.
The workshop is aimed to train and equip them the necessary skills. Others who also attended the workshop include DOEs chief editor of children storybook, Phayul editor and other translators for children literature.
The virtual workshop which began 24 August was conducted by nationally published children literature authors such as Anushka Ravishankar, Aravinda Anantharaman, Mala Kumar and US-based Tenzin Kalsang. The main session was conducted by resource persons including Buddha Kyap, Kalsang Wangdu and Jamyang Gyaltsen.
The final and the sixth day of the workshop will feature important discussions on the translation of DOE children literature.
