BANGALORE: Mr Chophel Thupten, Chief Representative of Southern Tibetan Settlements based in Bangalore, participated in the 3rd International Day of Yoga held at Kanteerava stadium, Bangalore. He was invited as a special guest by the organisers and felicitated on the day by Union Minister Shri Ananth Kumar, Govt. of India.
International Day of Yoga is an initiative by Honourable Indian Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi which is celebrated on 21 June every year. This year 2017 is the third year of International day of Yoga since its announcement in 2014.
In Bangalore, the Department of Health, Government of Karnataka in collaboration with popular Yoga Guru Shri Vachanand Swamiji organised a mass Yoga day at Sree. Kanteerava Sports Stadium, Bangalore. It was attended by many prominent leaders around India and world. Around 12,000 people gathered at the stadium to celebrate the Yoga day in Bangalore. The Vachanada Swamiji conducted one hour Yoga practice before the large audience.
Shri Anand Kumar, Hon’ble Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India, Shri. Ramesh Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Karnataka, Chairman of Indian Olympic Association, Principal Secretary to Government Health Department, Smt. Shalini Rajnesh, IAS, popular Social activist, Shri. Anna Hazare along with many prominent Yoga gurus from Rishikesh and Haridwar attended the programme. Many Yoga gurus from Karnataka, two famous women Yoga masters aged 98 as well as foreigners took part.
Shri. Ananth Kumar, Honb’le Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India in his speech said: “Yoga is about health assurance and is not an expensive practice. Fitness and wellness is an important aspect of human life.”
Hon’ble Health Minister in his speech said: Yoga is science dated back to 5000 years and all the practices involve help create proper balance between body and mind. Therefore, he urged everyone to make yoga as part of their life.
