BANGALORE: Chophel Thupten, Chief Representative of the southern Tibetan settlements, along with Lopon Tsekyi Dorje, a Buddhist scholar from Namdroling monastery in Bylakuppe, attended the inauguration of the 13th World Assembly of Religions in Bangalore, Karnataka state. The assembly held from 19 – 21 April was organised by World Fellowship of Inter Religious Councils and Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram.
The assembly was attended by representatives from all major religions of the world including Hinduisim, Christainity, Islam, Jainism, Sikhism, etc.
In his address at the assembly, Representative Chophel Thupten spoke about religious harmony, one of the three main commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Th representatives of other religious institutions also spoke about the importance of religious harmony.
Lopon Tsekyi Dorje participated in the evening discussion titled ‘Religion as a Unifying Force’ and spoke on the topic.
