
Dharamshala: The First Certification Training on Career Counselling for Tibetan School Counselors in India and Nepal concluded successfully
The Department of Education, CTA organised 5-day Certification Training on Career Counseling followed by 3 Months online training (once a week of 3 hours session) for School Counselors of Tibetan Schools in India and Nepal from November 16 – 20, 2020.
The training facilitated by iDreamCareer, the first unbiased Career Counseling Organisation located in Delhi concluded successfully.
Ms. Garima Gupta, Program Manager, iDreamCareer.com ran through the training program offered by them and said the training is customised to suit the needs of Tibetan school counsellors. The trainers were Ms. Versha, Ms. Preetha Ajit, Mr. Thomas John, Ms. Garima Gupta & Mr. Dipankar.
Ms. Donkar Wangmo, Chief Counselor said, “the aim of providing this training to the School Counselors is to enhance their professional development so that they have right skills and tools to conduct Career Aptitude Test and also competently provide the career guidance so that every child could make an informed career decision”.
The training included Career Theories; Basics of Career Counseling; Career Pathways and Entry routes (Science, Commerce, Humanities, Vocation and Neutral); Admission Guidance for Higher Studies; Orientation on iDreamCareer dashboard from the lens of Students & Counselors; Entrance test information; Case Studies Discussion; Tools of Career Counseling; Administration, Interpretation & Report Writing of iDC Career Psychometric Test and in the following 3 months online training, many topics will be covered including Overseas Study Planning; Job Seeking Approaches, Skills & Strategies; Planning and Designing Career Development Program etc. Methods employed during this training lecture, Presentation, Discussion, Mock iDC Aptitude Test, Question & Answer session.
The training was attended by 25 participants (19 School Counselors {TCV, THF, STSS & SLF (Nepal)}, 4 DOE Counselors & 2 Counselors from TCC, Department of Home and is funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC)
