MUNDGOD: A three day workshop on Brainstorming and Strategic Planning Meeting for Workshop and Tractor Section of Agriculture based Tibetan Cooperative Societies in India began with the Opening ceremony program presided by Mr. Chhimey Rigzin, Secretary of Department of Home, CTA as chief guest. It is organised at Gaden Jangtse Guest house conference hall at Doeguling Tibetan Settlement, Mundgod on 18 August 2017.
Thirty-eight participants from 11 cooperative societies attended this meeting, including five settlement officers from South India, secretaries and one board member from each settlement, manager, foreman and mechanic of every Workshop and tractor under Tibetan Cooperative societies in India. The meeting was organized by Department of Home – CTA and funded under USAID program.
The meeting began with the formal traditional ceremony of scarf offering by Mr. Chimey Rigzin, the secretary of DoH and Mr. Pema Delek, Member of Tibetan Parliament and President of FTCI, followed by lighting of butter lamp by the secretary- the chief guest at the event.
One minute silence was observed to mourn the loss of martyrs inside and outside Tibet and to express our solidarity, followed by singing of Tibetan National Anthem. As part of ceremony, tea and sweet rice was served to all the participants in the meeting.
Mr. Dhondup Tsering, Deputy Secretary of DoH, on behalf the DoH extended a very warm welcome to all the participants in the meeting.
Mr. Pema Delek, in his address to the participants, spoke in length about the need to focus on areas of workshop not on ideal basis but rather on practicality dimension so that the problems faced by the workshop can not only be resolved but constructive steps taken can help to achieve unprecedented development in all the workshops. This meeting which is certainly the first of its kind, it is hoped that it will bring about revolutionary changes in the focused section. For fruitful outcome in the ensuing discussion, he shared many constructive ideas with the participants.
Mr. Chhimey Rigzen in his address highlighted mainly on the purpose and the need for organizing a meeting of this kind. He stressed on the need to further the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to make the workshops efficient enough to provide the much needed service to the Tibetan settlers and also produce skilled workers in the communities.
He also stated that given the importance of this meeting, Honorable Home Kalon will be presiding over the meeting and addressing in the closing ceremony of this workshop. The secretary chose to skip speaking on the Kashag Five Fifty Policies and other important issues related to settlement sustainability to avoid repetition and to save time for discussion, as the Honourable Kalon would cover these issues in his address.
During these three day workshop, all participants must be actively participate in discussion to find out innovative ideas and unexplored activities for uplifting the status of all the sections of the Tibetan Cooperative Societies that saw steady decline in the past. Therefore it is high time we break out of this routine procedure of activities and bring more constructive ideas for realistic implementation of strategic plans from the three days brainstorming through interaction and discussion. Finally, Mr. Dhondup Tsering proposed a vote of Thanks. Thus, the first day program continued thereafter.
