BENGALURU: The office of Chief Representative of southern Tibetan settlements marked the 58th commemorative function of Tibetan National Uprising Day at Banamantapa Park in Bengaluru on 10 March 2017. Tibetan students, members of the public and Tibet supporters numbering over 500 attended the commemorative function.
The function began with a minute-long mourning in memory of the Tibetans who lost their lives for the Tibetan cause.
Mr Chophel Thupten, Chief Representative of Southern Tibetan Settlements, read out the statement of Kashag on the occasion and Under Secretary Mr Karma Gelek read out the statement of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile.
The chief guest at the function was Mr Dinesh Gundu Rao, former minister and president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress committee. Other guests at the function include Mr Ramachandra Gowda, former minister of Karnataka, Mr Jagdish, State secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, Lt. gen PG Karmath, special rapporteur, national human rights commission, Mr Asif Iqbal, former honorary consul general of Surinam and Mr Henrik, Director of Europe Trade Commission.
