
Canberra, 3 January 2026: Australian Senator Barbara Pocock, Co-Chair of the Australian Parliamentary Group for Tibet, has delivered a congratulatory address in the Senate chamber honouring His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on winning his first Grammy Award for his narration of the audiobook Meditation: Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, during the 68th Annual Grammy Awards held at in Los Angeles.
In her address, Senator Pocock said: “At 90, His Holiness’s lifelong devotion to peace and compassion continues to inspire the world. This award is not just a win for an album, but a global recognition of his message of the ‘oneness of humanity’ that His Holiness has always championed.” She also condemned the Chinese government’s criticism of the Dalai Lama’s Grammy win as an attack on the freedom of expression of Tibetans.
Reflecting on her recent visit to Dharamsala, Senator Pocock highlighted her meetings with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and leaders of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile. She said the visit deepened her understanding of the Tibetan issue and the resilience of Tibetan refugees living in exile.
Following her Senate address, Representative Karma Singey and members of the Canberra Tibetan community met with Senator Pocock to express their gratitude for her continued support of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people.
