Bylakuppe: Additional Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture addressed the inaugural ceremony of the Fourth International Conference on different Vinaya traditions held at Sera Jey Monastic University in Bylakuppe on 1 December.
Additional Secretary attended as the chief guest along with Special Guest Logoan Rinpoche, Former Abbot of Sera Jey Monastery; Special Guest Geshe Tashi Tsethar, Abbot of Sera Jey Monastic University; Honorable Guest Kasur Ven. Karma Gelek, Former Minister of DRC.
A short introduction to International Conference on Vinaya was delivered by Sera Jey Education Director, followed by addresses from the special guests and Kasur Ven. Karma Gelek.
Additional Secretary Dhondul Dorjee commended the monastery for organising this conference and said it was in keeping with His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s wishes. He briefed on the evolution of Tibetan Buddhism in Tibet and the establishment of monastic institutions, which he credited for preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibetan Buddhism.
The treasurer of Sera Jey, Ngawang Jangchup, delivered the vote of thanks.
