DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) released a book titled “Tibet’s Past, Present, and Future – What is the Way Forward ? on the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 82nd birthday celebration at Tsuglagkhang on 6 July. The book is a report on a symposium organised by DIIR in Delhi last year on 17 December 2016. Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile inaugurated the book release.
The Symposium was held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, on 17 December 2016. The day long symposium was part of DIIR’s Middle Way Awareness Program. The symposium was attended by intellectuals, former ministers, Tibetologists, environmentalists, professors, etc who participated in panel discussions. Some of the prominent speakers were Shri Mani Shanker Aiyar, former union minister, Ms Jaya Jaitly, former Member of Parliament, Dr Lobsang Sangay, President of CTA, Claude Arpi, Historian and Tibetologist, Mr Jayadeva Ranade, Prof Brahma Chellany, Centre for Policy Research, Kate Saunders, International Campaign for Tibet and Prof. Dibyesh Anand, University of Westminster.
Large number of students from Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, think tanks and media persons attended the symposium.
