Dehradun: The Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group (V-TAG) of India successfully organised the inaugural Ghangjong Festival at Pacific Mall, Dehradun, from 6 to 7 June 2025.
The festival held in collaboration with Pacific Mall, Trinetram Brand Solutions, and The Tibet Museum, the two-day celebration brought Tibetan culture to the heart of the city, drawing enthusiastic crowds and widespread appreciation from the public. The festival was conceived as a vibrant platform to showcase Tibetan heritage, identity, and artistic expression — and by all accounts, it delivered.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Col. Ajay Kothiyal, alongside distinguished attendees including the Dr Tsewang Phuntsok, Tibetan Settlement Officer of Dehradun; Indrapal Singh, State President of Bharat Tibet Sangh; festival sponsor Kelsang and the leadership of Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement.
The event set a rich cultural tone, featuring traditional performances, art exhibitions, fashion show, community engagement activities, and educational displays celebrating Tibet’s enduring legacy. The second day raised the energy further, with a drawing competition that invited young participants to express their connection to Tibetan culture through art, followed by a spirited fashion show that brought traditional Tibetan attire into the spotlight — drawing sustained applause from the audience.
As the first festival ever organised by V-TAG in India, the Ghangjong Festival served as a powerful statement of intent — a commitment to empowering Tibetan youth, strengthening cultural preservation, and building bridges of understanding with the wider community. The overwhelming response from participants, partners, sponsors, and visitors reflects a growing public appreciation for Tibetan culture and the urgent importance of preserving it for future generations.
