
Dharamshala: As per the circular issued by the Kashag dated 10 June 2026, Secretary Jigme Tsering, the former Representative of Office of Tibet (Tibet House) in Brasil, was appointed Representative of the New Delhi-based Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He is scheduled to assume charge of the post on 28 July 2026.
As per Article 19 (1) of the Public Service Commission’s rules and regulations, the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Offices of Tibet must be appointed by the Kashag in the attendance of Sikyong and the Kalons.
Brief Bio of Secretary Jigme Tsering:
Secretary Jigme Tsering was born in Ladakh, India, in 1967 and currently serves as Director at the History Documentation and Interim Placement Section Under Kashag Secretariat.
He was first appointed as Joint Secretary at the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) in 2005. In 2012, he was promoted to Additional Secretary and also served as Director of Tibet TV at DIIR.
Later, in 2016, he served as the Acting Secretary of the Public Service and Election Commission. In 2017, Jigme Tsering was formally promoted to Secretary of the Public Service and Election Commission.
On 15 May 2019, he assumed the role of Representative of the Office of Tibet (Tibet House) in Brazil. After serving for nearly seven years as the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration to Latin America, he was transferred to the Kashag History Documentation and Interim Placement Section in May 2026.
On 10 June 2026, he was appointed as the Representative of the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi.
