
Taipei: Representative Kelsang Gyalsten and Secretary Mingyur Youdon from the Office of Tibet (Tibet Religious Foundation of H.H. the Dalai Lama) in Taipei attended the celebration marking 250th anniversary of the U.S. founding in Taiwan at the invitation of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT).
The event was held at the AIT offices in the evening of 27 May 2026. Distinguished guests included Taiwan President Lai Ching-te, Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister and Defence Minister, members of both the ruling and opposition parties, as well as representatives of foreign diplomatic missions based in Taiwan.
The programme began with the United States national anthem, followed by commemorative remarks delivered by AIT Director Raymond F. Greene. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te subsequently delivered a congratulatory address highlighting the significance of the occasion.
As a commemorative gesture, Morris Chang, founder of TSMC, presented AIT Director Raymond F. Greene with a two-volume set on the history and memoirs of TSMC, authored by himself, to be conveyed to US President Donald Trump.
Following the formal programme, a dinner reception was held, during which Representative Kelsang Gyalsten had the opportunity to engage with dignitaries from the Taiwan government, the legislature, diplomatic missions, and various non-governmental organisations.
