
Canberra: Following a week-long teachings and empowerments at the newly built Sakya Peace Temple in Canberra, Sakya Trizin Kyabgon Gyana Vajra Rinpoche addressed members of the local Tibetan community on the evening of 29 March 2026.
Sakya Trizin Kyabgon Gyana Vajra Rinpoche spoke on the preciousness of human life and encouraged everyone to make their lives meaningful by cultivating love, compassion, and ethical conduct, as taught by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other great Buddhist masters.
He further emphasised the importance of preserving the Tibetan language, culture, and religious traditions, urging parents to ensure that their children learn the Tibetan language and culture. Rinpoche also advised on the importance of maintaining unity and fostering harmony within the community.
During the event, Representative Karma Singey presented an overview of the role and responsibilities of the Office of Tibet based in Canberra and expressed his sincere gratitude to Rinppoche for conferring a series of teachings and sacred empowerments at the Sakya Peace Temple over the past week, as well as for addressing the Tibetan community.
The president of the Canberra Tibetan Community Tenzin Yougyal also presented a brief report outlining the various activities undertaken by the local Tibetan community.
