Toronto: On 13 December 2025, Tibetan community in Toronto marked two historic milestones: the 36th anniversary of the Nobel Peace Prize conferred to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and the 46th founding anniversary of the Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario.
President of the Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario Deki Shukla welcomed MP James Maloney as Chief Guest, Khen Rinpoche Neten Tulku Tenzin Gelek as Guest of Honour, and Special Guest Tibetan Parliamentarian Tenzing Jigme, alongside MP Karim Bardeesy, MPP Alexa Gilmour, MPP Lee Fairclough, and Sherab Tharchin, Executive Director of the Canada Tibet Committee, and Dean Baxendale.
In his address, Tibetan Parliamentarian Tenzing Jigme emphasised unity and responsibility, urging Tibetans to actively participate in and support the Tibetan Association of Toronto. The afternoon was beautifully enriched with cultural songs and dance performances by students and community organisations—celebrating our heritage, resilience, and collective commitment to Tibet.
