Jaipur, 10 November 2025: The Tibet Advocacy Section of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), inaugurated a comprehensive Tibet Awareness Speaking Tour at Rawat Public School, Pratap Nagar, Jaipur. The week-long outreach programme aims to engage prominent schools and colleges across Jaipur city.
Over 700 students and faculty members gathered at the school’s Nirmala Auditorium for the opening session, which addressed critical themes including “Why Tibet Matters, India-Tibet Relations, and the deteriorating human rights situation inside Tibet.”
Tenzin Kunkhen and Rinchen, staff from the Tibet Advocacy Section, delivered comprehensive presentations covering: China’s violations of fundamental human rights in Tibet; Suppression of civil liberties and political freedoms; Threats to Tibetan culture, identity, and language education; Impact of colonial-style boarding schools and assimilationist policies; and Environmental concerns affecting traditional Tibetan livelihoods.
Rinchen emphasised the deep-rooted cultural, religious, and linguistic connections between Tibet and India, shaped by Buddhism’s spread and strengthened through centuries of pilgrimage and exile. She underscored Tibet’s critical role as “Asia’s water tower,” vital to the water security and well-being of hundreds of millions in downstream regions.
The presentation also addressed mounting threats to Tibet’s water resources from Chinese hydropower projects, intensified irrigation, retreating glaciers, and increased militarisation, damming, and mining activities.
Following the main session, Class 12 students participated in a podcast session, demonstrating keen interest in Tibet’s current situation and future prospects based on the talk. The speakers encouraged attendees to research Tibetan issues, disseminate accurate information, and advocate for an end to human rights violations and China’s occupation of Tibet.
The programme at the Rawat Public School was made possible through the support of Narendra Singh Rawat, Director, Rawat Educational Group, who welcomed speakers with floral bouquets and encouraged students to embrace global diversity; O.P. Tripathi, National Treasurer, Bharat Tibbat Samanvay Sangh (BTSS), who provided the program’s opening introduction and arranged the week-long Tibet Awareness Programme at various schools and colleges in Jaipur; Maitreyi Shukla, Principal and Rajesh Kantharia, Academic Head of Rawat Public School, facilitated the event and commended student engagement.
Following the talk at the school, the Tibet Advocacy staff met with Jagdish Sharma, Managing Editor of Dainik Bhaskar, India’s largest newspaper with a readership of approximately 14 crores. The meeting, arranged by O.P. Tripathi, facilitated meaningful dialogue on Tibet’s situation, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the Central Tibetan Administration.
The entire speaking tour has been organised by O.P. Tripathi of the Bharat Tibbat Samanvay Sangh, Jaipur, who will accompany DIIR staff throughout the week-long engagement with educational institutions across the city.
