
Dharamshala: On 24 October 2025, The Norling Festival 2025 commenced with a vibrant inaugural programme graced by the presence of Kyabje Ling Rinpoche as the Chief Guest. Also present were the Guest of Honours Dr Udayant Malhoutra, CEO of Dynamatic Technologies Ltd, and Nikolaus Koch, First Secretary at the German Embassy in India.
Among other distinguished guests include Chief Justice Commissioner Yeshi Wangmo, Justice Commissioners Dawa Phunkyi and Phagpa Tsering, and Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture.
The event began with a welcome address by Lobsang Nyendak, Director of Norbulingka Institute, who extended his warm greetings to the guests and attendees. This was followed by an inspirational speech from the Chief Guest, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, who highlighted the importance of preserving Tibetan culture and traditions. Rinpoche also mentioned that His Holiness the Dalai Lama had the foresight to establish this institute to protect Tibetan culture and expressed his gratitude to the teachers and staff for their dedicated contributions to the institution.
The special guest, Dr Udayant Malhoutra, remarked that “art and craft are the language of history and culture,” adding that by preserving them, Norbulingka Institute is spreading light to the world. Another special guest, Nikolaus Koch, congratulated the Norbulingka Institute for the tremendous work it has accomplished in preserving and promoting Tibetan heritage.
The programme also featured a colourful cultural show, showcasing traditional performances that reflected the rich artistic heritage of the Tibetan community.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Tsering Phuntsok, Managing Director of the Norbulingka Institute, who expressed gratitude to all participants, guests, and organisers for making the event a success.
