Nagpur, Maharashtra: India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) successfully concluded an awareness program during the 69th Dhammachakra Pravartan Diwas at Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur, Maharashtra. On the second day of ITCO’s participation at Deekshabhoomi, which marked the main event of the Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Diwas, the India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) carried out impactful outreach activities under the leadership of Shri Arvind Nikose, National Co-Convener (Western Region), Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India (CGTC-I), along with his team including Shri Sandesh Meshram, Regional Convener (Western Region), CGTC-I.
The program drew wide public attention and considerable media coverage. ITCO’s presence was featured through a news interview by the Deshonnati Digital and a short video created by the Padmapani Productions titled “Return of Wisdom at Deekshabhoomi: Tibetans said What we learned from India, today we are giving back.” Such coverage significantly amplified the Tibetan message to broader audience in the Maharashtra digitally.
There were new supporters joining the movement, including a professor from Aniket College of Social Work, Wardha, Maharashtra. Outreach was further strengthened through the distribution of 500 books and 5,000 leaflets on Tibet to visitors from across India, covering states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, and Uttarakhand.
ITCO had the opportunity to engaged with and felicitate senior Tibet supporters, notably Shri Shashikant Patil, Executive Founding Member of the National Campaign for Free Tibet (NCFT), and Dr. Seema Mishram, wife of the late Shri Sateshwar More, a distinguished and long-standing Tibet supporter. Their continued involvement and encouragement stand as an inspiration for the movement.
Two major impacts defined ITCO’s participation on this day. First, the strengthening of the bond between the Tibetan cause and the Ambedkarite Buddhist community, facilitated through in-depth discussions, visual presentations, and strong social media and news coverage by influential outlets such as Deshonatti News and other content creators. Second, the sustenance of the historic bond between the Tibetan cause and India’s Tibet supporters, particularly from Wardha and Nagpur. As in previous years, the Tibet supporter team led by Shri Arvind Nikose travelled 80 km from Wardha to Nagpur to actively participate in the program, once again demonstrating their unwavering commitment.
Overall, ITCO’s participation on Day 2 at Deekshabhoomi reflected both the continuity of past solidarity and the forging of new connections. The outreach successfully spread a message of compassion, resilience, and shared struggle, reaffirming the deep ties between the Tibetan movement and India’s Ambedkarite Buddhist community as well as long-standing Tibet supporters.
