
Canberra: The Australian Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Michaelia Cash met with Representative Karma Singey of the Canberra-based Office of Tibet on 5 September 2025 in her office at the Parliament House.
During the meeting, Representative Karma Singey congratulated Honourable Senator Michaelia Cash on her being appointed as Australia’s Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister and discussed a wide range of issues, including the Chinese government’s interference in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of reincarnation, Tibet issue as an unresolved political crisis, and China’s transnational repression of Tibetans in Australia.
Representative Karma Singey also briefed Senator Cash on the significance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birth Anniversary this year, which is being observed as the Year of Compassion globally, and his recent announcement on the affirmation of the continuation of the institution of the Dalai Lama.
Senator Michaelia Cash assured her full support to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibetan people and condemned acts of transnational repression of Tibetan-Australians by the Chinese government.
Representative Karma Singey was accompanied by Jigmey Passang, Secretary of the Tibet Information Office, Kalsang Tsering, Board member of Australia Tibet Council, and Sonam, ATC’s Digital Campaigner, during the meeting.
