
Tezu: Palden Dhondup, Secretary of the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), paid an official two-day visit to the Dhargyeling Tibetan Settlement in Tezu. The visit focused on project inspections, interaction with community leaders, and direct engagement with the settlement residents.
On 28 August 2025 (Day 1), the Secretary visited the Settlement Office and reviewed both ongoing and completed projects under the Department of Home. He also inspected the newly designated Camp No. 6 plots, where 30 families from Tuting are being relocated under the Building Back Compact Community (BBCC) program.
On 29 August 2025 (Day 2), the program began with a meeting at 10:00 a.m. with local dignitaries. During the meeting, the Secretary highlighted the vital role of NGOs in civil society and urged them to extend their cooperation and support to the settlement. He also called on camp leaders to take active steps toward reviving agricultural activities within the settlement.
Later in the day, he visited Camp No. 5, House No. 38, where a fire had recently damaged a home. He met the affected families, offered his condolences, and assured them that the CTA would provide the necessary assistance.
In the afternoon, at 1:30 p.m., Secretary Palden Dhondup addressed the settlement community in a public gathering. He expressed deep gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for his visionary leadership, urged the community to adopt healthy lifestyles, and encouraged the youth to dedicate themselves to the service and progress of Tibetan society. He also shared updates on the ongoing and future initiatives of the Department of Home aimed at strengthening settlement development and community welfare.
The visit underscored the CTA’s unwavering commitment to the well-being, resilience, and advancement of the Tibetan community in exile.
