Gangtok: The Ghoton Organising Committee of Tibetan Settlement Gangtok initiated a mass tree plantation drive on 30 July 2025, where they planted 113 trees at forest near Radio Station in Gangtok. This initiative was organised to commemorate the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and to honour His Holiness’ commitment to live 113 years long. This mass tree plantation also signifies one of His Holiness’s dedication to conserve ecology of the world.

Around 35 participants partook in this tree plantation programme comprised of representatives from Ghoton Organising Committee and  members of the local Tibetan Associations in Gangtok.
