Paris: In collaboration with the Office of Tibet in Paris, the Tibetan community in France held a three-day grand celebration of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama’s 89th birthday from 5 July to 7 July 2024.
The event was graced by distinguished guests such as Mr. Jean-Luc Romero-Michel, Deputy Mayor of Paris, and Ms. Emmanuelle Pierre-Marie, Mayor of Paris District 12. Also in attendance were Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche, Ven. Thich Quang Dao (President of the Khanh Anh Buddhist Association), Europe-based Tibetan parliamentarian Thupten Gyatso, parliamentarian Ngodup Dorjee, Coordinator Thupten Tsering from the Bureau du Tibet in Paris, and Pema Rinchen, President of the Tibetan Community. The event also saw the presence of Geshe from various monasteries and the presidents of the Tibet Support Group.

Thich Quang Dao (President of the Khanh Anh Buddhist Association), Europe-based Tibetan parliamentarian Thupten Gyatso, parliamentarian Ngodup Dorjee, Coordinator Thupten Tsering from the Bureau du Tibet in Paris, Pema Rinchen, President of the Tibetan Community, were joined by the Geshe from various monasteries, the presidents of other regional Tibetan Associations, and chairmans of the Tibet Support Groups, demonstrating the widespread support for the celebration. The commemoration ceremony also saw enthusiastic participation from the community people.
Pema Rinchen, President of the Tibetan Community in Paris, spoke at the ceremony, introducing the event and welcoming all the attendees. Following this, Coordinator Thupten Tsering from the Bureau du Tibet in Paris and parliamentarian Thupten Gyatso delivered statements from Kashag in alternating turns.
The event culminated with cultural performances presented by members of the community.
