New Delhi: The Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama celebrated the auspicious occasion of His Holiness’s 89th birthday with an annual dinner reception at the India Habitat Centre, attended by approximately 130 guests last Saturday.
The former governor of Sikkim, Honorable BP Singh ji, who served as the chief guest, graced the event. Eminent Indian dignitaries joined about fifty diplomats from twenty countries, including ambassadors and deputy chiefs of missions.

He expressed gratitude to the Government of India, stating, “Its generous support and hospitality in treating His Holiness the Dalai Lama as its most honoured guest in the country.” Jungney also acknowledged India’s consistent support for Tibetan refugees, which he described as instrumental in preserving Tibetan culture, religious practices, and language.
