Mandi: The 11th Local Tibetan Assembly of the Tibetan settlement in Mandi was sworn in on 2 June 2024 following the election of 9 new members, including its chair, Sonam Dhonden, and vice-chair, Yeshi Dorjee.

The local Justice Commissioner of the Northern region, Choekyi, administered the oath of the newly elected members.

Concurrently with the swearing-in ceremony, Local Justice Commissioner Choekyi conducted a legal awareness campaign on 1 and 2 June, respectively, for around 57 Tibetan residents of Rewalsar (Alias Tso Pema) and Pandoh Tashiling settlement to elucidate the Tibetan Justice Commission’s code of judiciary and its organisation and jurisdiction. The Local Justice Commissioner also briefed the residents on the evolution and system of the exile Tibetan democratic polity.
