
Kathmandu: A month-long winter cultural training for Tibetan students from India and Nepal, organised by the Choejor Tibetan Settlement Office in Nepal and the Himalayan Buddhist Library and Cultural Centre, was concluded successfully on 27 January 2024.
This month-long training aimed to teach students about the Tibetan culture, language, and traditions free of charge during the winter holiday.
The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Kyabje Shiri Chusang Rinpoche as the chief guest and representative Tsepri Lopan Tulku Ngawang Chokdup as the special guest. The event was also attended by former Tibetan Parliamentarian Jamyang Thinley, Secretary of the OoT Karma Gyaltsen, Local Tibetan Assembly Chair of Choejor Settlement Kelsang Dhondup, Choejor Settlement Officer Phurbu Tashi, and Tibetan Settlement Officers (TSO) and former TSOs in Kathmandu. Representatives from local Tibetan Freedom Movements, the Snow Lion Foundation and Directors of Tibetan government organisations and representatives from Kathmandu-based Tibetan NGOs also attended the ceremony, along with the students and their parents.
The ceremony was addressed by the Chief guest and the Special guest of the event and was followed by a prayer for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s well-being.
The ceremony saw presentations by the students who delivered their enriching experiences on the month-long winter cultural training. It was then concluded with various mesmerising cultural performances by the students.
